What happens at a Mad Make Party?
First, the Party happens in your inbox on Friday mornings. My hope is that you’ll feel like you’re holding a glass of a delectable sparkling wine, having a really great conversation with someone who is just inebriated enough to share some really personal stuff.
You might consider actually procuring a bottle of something sparklingly alcoholic. It’ll help you forget.
Offerings may include personal essays, poetry, and other more amorphous pieces, focusing on self and cultural analysis, and sometimes on making stuff.
Your host
My name is Lianne Castravelli. I’m a writer, a compulsive maker and teacher at a leading hospitality institute where I offer instruction on how to drink seriously. I’m a literature PhD who specialized in an obscure body of late-nineteenth-century French and English texts which still haunt me. I’m a mom to three kick-ass kids (they genuinely kick my ass on a semi-regular basis), occasionally exploiting them to make stuff for me. You can find me skulking around trying to build a following on Instagram.
Join the Party
Be part of a community of people who share your interests, or randomly ended up in the same room cause they knew someone who knew someone.
I’m the one standing near the punch bowl, cracking open the Champagne.
Why pay when you can attend this party for free?
There are some perks. Paying subscribers will be able to participate in a weekly discussion thread, and get sneak peeks at my children’s book in progress (I’m toying with the idea of calling on paying subscribers to build the adventure with me).
Paying subscribers will also receive an additional Saturday morning dispatch containing 5 thoughtful recommendations of things to read, make or drink. Wine (or beverage) recommendations will be accompanied by tasting notes and a suggested food pairing.
Aside from the extras, paying subscribers help me produce consistent, quality content, while actually getting paid for my work! Woot woot! This is where I put the lampshade on my head.
Sincere thanks to all who sign up, whether you contribute to this newsletter financially or not. Your presence here means the world to me! Please consider inviting others to the Mad Make Party!
